Want to discuss your requirements?
One of the key parts of the Work at Height regulations (2005) is that any height safety equipment or systems that are put in place to protect workers should only ever be used by a competent person who has received the proper training to use the equipment safely. The perfect solution to ensure your workers are ready? A working at height training course designed to give your workers the knowledge and experience to confidently use the equipment you’ve installed on site.
Here at Altus Safety, we can help train your workers through our training courses covering a range of topics that can ensure your workers are prepared for working at height – from general awareness of best practices to equipment specific training designed to make all of your workers pros at using their new height safety and access equipment. Find out what courses we offer below.

Working at height is inherently dangerous. Not only are you dealing with working at a height above ground level, but you’re also exposed to the elements in many circumstances and are often in confined spaces or uncomfortable whilst working because of the fall protection equipment necessary to prevent falls from height.
A single work at height course couldn’t possibly cover how to work at height safely, which is why our in-person or online training courses are split up to cover specific elements of working at height training.
Ensuring your workers are fully trained is one of your legal responsibilities, just as is carrying out risk assessments before working at height tasks. We offer multiple courses covering a range of training material, including Working At Height:

All of the courses we offer are founded on the principles of the Working At Height Regulations (2005). This legislation was designed to reduce and eliminate workplace fatalities and accidents, and that’s exactly what our courses are designed to do too.
Each of our training courses specifically caters to an individual or circumstance. It teaches the course taker, over the course of 0.5 day to 2 days, depending on the course, everything they need to know about their role and responsibilities when carrying out dangerous tasks whilst working at height.
Our training modules teach the course taker knowledge, whilst focusing on real world applications, too, such as the control measures they can put in place to prevent personal injury when working at height in UK workplaces. Course transcripts and materials can be made available at the conclusion of the course, but this is never a substitute for the course itself.
Our team is made up of some of the most experienced height safety experts in the UK – and we don’t say that lightly. With decades of experience across our team, we’re confident that we’re the best placed team to help get your workers up to scratch when it comes to height safety at your site.
Our courses contain all the information and practical tips your workers will need to work with confidence at height using new height safety systems they might not be familiar with. And all of our courses are designed with your compliance in mind.
A work at height certificate from one of our courses is all the evidence you need to prove that your workers have received the relevant training to safely use the equipment on your site.
We carry out all of our training courses – whether in person or online – with the highest professional standards, but we also don’t want our courses to be a tickbox that your workers have to do every few years or so just to satisfy height safety legislation. No. We want our training to be truly valuable, delivered in a way that’s actually interesting and useful to your team, and for every one of your workers to take something away from it that actually changes their level of knowledge, skill, or confidence.
Want to learn more about our training courses…
In this age of online working we obviously offer online training where appropriate. However there are certain training moments that are simply better delivered in person because a more practical participation is required that gives workers increased confidence for equipment use etc.
When you reach out to discuss your training requirements we can give you a more accurate idea about which module introduces practical support and which ones can be carried out online according to your schedule and needs.
Work at height training courses need an element of assessment to prove that the individual attending the course is capable and competent enough to apply their knowledge after the training is over. It’s the cornerstone of height safety training in order to satisfy regulations and prove compliance.
But don’t worry, our training courses aren’t designed to be daunting. You won’t need to deliver a 30 minute presentation and write an essay on the finer points of the training. Q&As, in-training understanding and multiple choice assessment are all used to determine how much of the course your workers have taken in.
Those who pass the requirements will receive a certificate detailing the nature of the course they completed and the date completed so you can keep their knowledge refreshed over time.
Not only are they worthwhile, they’re essential. Our training courses and subsequent certificates are the proof you need that your workers are competent enough to safely carry out the work you assign them at height.
Our courses are all designed to add real value to your workers’ everyday lives – what they learn in our courses will be things they can directly apply to their work.
General guidance is that work at height training should be refreshed every 3-5 years to ensure workers are still up to speed with the latest advice and guidance. This should be brought forwards if there are any major changes to height safety regulations that directly impact the way workers carry out work on site.
When you work with Altus Safety you’ll get a dedicated account manager who can schedule in a reminder email, call or text for refresher courses and additional resources when the time comes around. That means you’ll always be compliant on site and you’ll always ensure workplace safety is at the forefront of everybody’s minds.
